Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Charlottetown Sport and Social Club?
CSSC is a organization that sets up co-ed sports leagues for the community. We take care of everything for you so you can just sign up, show up, and play!

Some of the things we do include booking venues to play in, schedule games, provide equipment, setup/teardown each game, find teams for individuals to play on, set up socials for our members, find drink specials and other promotions at local businesses for our members, etc.

What sports do you offer?
CSSC operates year round, offering co-ed sports leagues in three seasons – fall, winter, summer – as well as occasional weekend tournaments and fun events.

Indoor: Dodgeball, Volleyball, MultiSport (Various, but generally a rotation of Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, and Dodgeball)
Outdoor: MultiSport, Ultimate Frisbee, Beach Volleyball, Soccer, Soccer Baseball, Softball

We are a self-officiated league. From our experience, being self-officiated encourages good sportsmanship, and helps to keep the cost down.

How do I get involved?
You can register with a full team or as an individual and we will do our best hook you up with a team. If you want to sign up with a friend, we can arrange that too!

Do I have to be good at sports?
Nope, experience isn’t necessary. The main focus is on having fun. We have individuals of all athletic abilities.

Are the leagues competitive?
We indicate the level of competitiveness for each league so you can join a league that fits your skill level the best. Our leagues range from low competition (recreational) to competitive. We do keep score but the leagues are meant to be social and fun and we try to focus mostly on that.

If I am competitive, will I have fun in a social league?
You wont realize how much fun you can have until you try it. Our club is all about the people and the social atmosphere. We try to encourage athletic players to try new sports and be a leader to the less experienced players.

How old do I have to be?
Most of our members are in their 20’s and 30’s but there is no age cap. Our social leagues promote events at local pubs, therefore our participants must be at least 19 years of age. If you are under 19 years of age and wish to play, you may be able to get special permission to play with the approval of contacting the organizer.

The Social:
We encourage members to be social during and after game play. Most teams try to go out each week after their games for a drink or a bite to eat. We also do big socials after every season combining all leagues which gets lots of people out and socializing.

Winter 2018: Held a Trivia night at the Factory with prizes, minute to win it games, and food and drinks
Summer 2018: Bowling night with beer at The Alley
Fall 2018: Comedy/Improv show with the Popolopolots at the Arts Guild

Game Locations
Most of our leagues are played at a fixed-location venue. Sometimes your team will play in a few different locations over the course of a season. The reason we lay out such a broad playing area is that venues can change from one season to the next, as well as the fact that sometimes venues are not confirmed until after our registration deadlines. If we have specific game venue information, it will be listed with each program.

How to Pay
There are no annual membership fees – you simply pay for the league you participate in. You pay us if you sign up as an individual, or you pay your team captain (who will pay us) if you are part of a team. We allow a grace period of two weeks into a season before your league fees are due to allow for teams to collect money from their players. Payment can be accepted by e-transfers to charlottetownsport@gmail.com, paid by Visa or Mastercard online, or by cash or cheque in person.
